Salaam bombay

The opening sequence of Salaam Bombay is so effective as it makes us ask so many questions which is key for an opening film sequence because straight away we are introduced to a set of people packing up a circus which makes us ask loads of questions such as 'why are they packing away, what has happened? etc. Also following on from this a young boy is sent away to request his boss some food, as he approaches from coming back from collecting where they are packing away everyone is gone. The director alerts suspense unto the audience as we do not know may happen in the next scene and where everyone has disappeared to. A quote from one of the characters (the boss) 'None of your dodgey tricks this time' is said towards the boy which could show that he has taken his money before, which also creates suspense in which will the boy buy the bosses food or not and what will happen to him if he doesn't The director uses many camera shots such as a close up of the boy featuring 'match on reaction as he finds out that everyone have significantly which is a good shot as it show us the emotion and the facial expression to the news that he has discovered. Also another shot in the opening sequence is the longshot of the boy running through the hills to emphasise how far he has to run to get his boss some food in which we the audience are sympathic towards him that a boy of his age doesn't deserve to be treated in such way.
